Sponge Bob Square Pants
This is a show if the I have never, ever figured out. What is the appeal of a sponge in pants running around with a bunch of sea creatures. I might be able to get it if they imitated a true sea sponge, but using a typical kitchen sponge, no I just don't get it. When it first came out my kids were a little to old to feel the kids appeal for the program although they did find it appealing from a teenager point of view, but our lives were to full for them to develop an attatchment to the program. Then I had my fourth child. I was able to keep her away form the inanity of the show for a while, but then she really got into tv and found the sponge. I was forced to observe the insanity for a short time, but then I heard and saw things that I didn't approve of as a parent for my child to be watching. She was doing things that I didn't approve of. I banned the show. Whew saved from the silly sponge. If he continues in popularity, I'm sure someday I will have to face him again, but for now as long as I have ultimate control of the remote, he will not influence my daughter in ways that I don't approve of. And hopefully in that time she will come to appreciate my dislike and develop her own dislike or at least a better judgement system.

it took forever before I would let my daughter watch Spongebob too.
ReplyDeleteStopping in from Mama Kat's.
Ugh. I hate the Sponge Bob. My brother-in-law bought the whole first season in video for my daughter, so she watched it for a bit. Then I slowly started to hide them away. I've been saved from screening further presents from my BIL because now he has kids. I always think the best defense is some good revenge.
ReplyDeleteSad that cartoons are no longer safe.
ReplyDeleteI almost chose this show to write about for my prompt today. It's so unreal the appeal and hold it has over the majority of kids these days. I never understood the appeal of it, even from the very beginning of it's being aired.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness my kids prefer "Tom and Jerry" and good ol' Scooby Doo!
